This is the story of Melissa & Chris.
Melissa & Chris’s friends all thought they’d make a perfect pair.
It was the best kind of set-up.
They gave it a shot and found out they shared many loves.
From the expanse of a starry Eastern Washington sky overhead to boating with friends and hiking.
A year and half later Chris got down on one knee.

Melissa on how Chris proposed:

“We used to go to this old abandoned but adorable cottage-like house in Snohomish that I’ve been in love with since I first saw it. We would talk about how we would fix it up if it was our house and dream of our future there. On Christmas Eve, on our way to church Chris stopped at our dream house, got down on one knee and proposed. We hope to someday be able to buy the house, fix it up and have a family there.”

When Jake first set eyes on Erin she was wearing neon pink tights and a side pony tail. It was freshmen year of college, and they were at an 80′s Karaoke party.

Let’s just say she caught his eye.

They’ve been together ever since.

Their wedding day was a day of laughs, hugs, and some seriously impressive dancing.

Four-year old kids slow danced next to grandparents and everyone else in between.

When Erin & Jake were ready to leave at the end of the night they ran out into the street hand in hand into a British motor car surrounded by sparklers. They kissed in the back seat as the car took off.

These two have such a loyal, sweet, and beautiful relationship. Cheers you two!

This is the story of how an American girl named Kirsten, fell for the Swedish exchange student named Emanuel.

And vice versa.

They were best friends for months before they realized they should really, probably, date.

Emanuel returned home to Sweden after his year in Chicago. They decided to stick with it, and through skype, emails and phone calls they grew closer and stronger than they ever could have imagined over a year living thousands of miles apart.

When she finished school she packed her bags, and knew right where she wanted to go.

A few months later in Sweden he proposed, and she said “yes!”

After exchanging vows they took off in a little red bug reveling in excitement and joy. They did it– they were married!

My friends made a movie this summer called 100% Off: A Recession-Era Romance, and had me along to shoot stills during the wedding scene. It was one of my favorite nights of the summer.

It’s also proof you can have a wedding with limited details, a tiny budget, and still have a rollicking good time. Sometimes, it doesn’t matter if you’re eating a 5-tier gourmet cake or a sheet cake from QFC. What it’s about is reveling on a rooftop at sunset, with all your favorite people around you, and shouting to the universe, “I LOVE THIS PERSON AND IT’S A REALLY BIG DEAL!”
