K + Z got married at one of my favorite places to shoot, Fireseed Catering on Whidbey Island. There is no better recipe for a laid-back dreamy wedding than getting all of your loved ones to ferry onto a gorgeous island to eat oysters and stay up late dancing the night away with you. This summer I’ve been so over-the-moon to shoot on Whidbey a couple times each month. Somehow the San Juan islands always make my nomadic heart feel so at home. Shout out to Dorothy for being my sidekick for this one, and for the incredible crew at Fireseed, you guys rule.

Caitlin & Ricky– these two blew me away with their hospitality for their friends and loved ones. At the end of the night I left the Tacoma Union Station with a perma-smile… what an incredible experience photographing such awesome people who genuinely love each other and share something so authentic & true. What a good one. Big high fives to Alyssa for being such an ace second shooter.

In January Azzi & Rom flew me to Asmara, Eritrea to document their homecoming & wedding celebration. I stayed for 15 days and ate injera and curries for lunch, rode a bicycle out of the city into an arid landscape devoid of electricity and running water, and happily found myself lost in a city of decaying Italian architecture. I’m missing my morning greetings from grandfathers on bicycles who cheerfully called “buongiorno!” at me, and the gaggle of kids I spent my afternoons losing soccer matches to.

These two love each other, sci fi, thrash metal, vintage 45′s, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, and Paris.

On Sera’s birthday Ryan dropped to his knees and asked her to marry him on stage at a karokee bar.

He was wearing a mullet wig, skin tight spandex, and a hot pink mesh top.

She said yes, and this magical day happened.

Can’t thank you two for having me there to document all the fist pumps, first dances, and whiskey shots. Simply put: I adore you guys.
